Love and honor your parents, and obey them.
We all know this is one of the essential commandments of the Lord. But how do you obey them if you know your parents will just cause bad influences to you?
Ephesians 6:1 (New King James Version):
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
I will emphasize this, God said the phrase parents in the Lord. “Parents in the Lord” — it means parents who are God-fearing, parents who follow God’s Law; and not parents who are drunkards! Not parents who are murderers, killers, thieves, whiners, naggers, adulterers, drug addicts (and the list goes on and on.)
And for parents:
Ephesians 6:4 (New King James Version):
“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”
Parents must be responsible in bringing their children to follow God’s Law. Set a good example to the children so they will become responsible also for themselves and the others. And, for that, they will also pass that good virtue to the upcoming generations and this world will be a better place to live.
