Susmaryosep!

Many people use the expression, “Susmaryosep.” I hate it when I hear it, even it was derived from JeSUS, MARY, and JOSEPh.

Or even the expressions, “Sus, Ginoong Maria!” Or “Panginoon ko po!”, or “O Diyos ko!”, and the like.

Come to think about it, where do we often use that line?

For example, the famous line in the song  “Pare Ko” by The Eraserheads: “O DIYOS KO! Ano ba naman ito? diba? [Bleep]-ina.”

Another example, when parents scold their child: “Susmaryosep ka namang bata ka!” (Then ended up spanking the child.)

Or, “Panginoon ko naman.. Patay tayo diyan,” as an expression in disbelief and awe. And more often, when we are complaining.

See my point?

We often not aware on what we regularly say, especially these words.  They become part of our habits. And habits do not distinguish what is good and bad. The mind just unconsciously spew it, the same principle as the slip-of-the-tounge concept.

As we had read this, we must be aware of our choice of words. We must guard our thoughts to these unconscious habits on bad use of expressions. Curse words. God does not want cursing, especially when we use His name against Him.

Why not use these expressions to good use, like “Panginoon Ko” in a grateful manner? We can say, “Panginoon ko! Salamat po!”

Diba? Mas maganda?

From atheist to believer. I was constantly searching for my true purpose in Life, but now I discovered that my true purpose in Life is to search for the true purpose of Life itself.

  1. Sabi nga sa bible…you shall not take the name of the Lord, your God in vain.

Masyado na siyang nakasuksok sa mentality ng most pinoys eh. Medyo mahirap na siya iwasan. Probably if we start correcting kids or be mindful of what we say in front of kids baka may pag-asang mawala.

  2. I agree with you completely, words, expressions, especially those that have the Holy name of Jesus should be used for a good purpose. They should not be used thoughtlessly.
